Hey all, If you have looked at any Ontap collector in DII in the last few weeks, you will have seen on its collector page that you now see a poll audit trail history for "Logs". We have been pulling "EMS" log messages into DII for awhile, but not in the most elegant fashion - we used to do that as part of our performance polls. Last spring, we developed the architectural capability to introduce more "packages" for data collectors - and we used this as we enhanced our Vmware collector to have Logs and Vendor Specific metrics capabilities. We are now taking advantage of these architectural enhancements with collector enhancements in our Ontap collectors - by breaking out "Logs" into its own isolated package, we dramatically reduce the risk that performance gathering interferes with logs gathering, and vice versa. So, no DII user should see anything functionally different - we are doing the same things at the same frequency as before, but we are just increasing our reliability while also improving the end user experience in that we can now show log poll failures discretely. Logs functionality is still enabled by default on all existing and newly created collectors - again, we don't think anyone should notice any difference

The DII E-E-Series REST collector is going to be enhanced with new logs capabilities in the weeks to come. This new capability will be enabled automatically when we deploy the new hotness. You will be able to create log monitor alerts, etc as you may have come to expect via our existing logs capabilities in some of our other collectors like Ontap, Isilon/PowerScale REST, VMware, StorageGrid, etc. If you would like your DII tenant to have this functionality introduced early, you can drop me a note at ostiguy at netapp dot com with your DII tenant URL, as I am a made guy. This is also a good time to reconsider which E-Series data collector type you are using - our legacy E-Series API collector is NOT being enhanced with a logs package, so if your E-Series hardware is REST API capable, you should move to the E-Series REST API collector type - you can safely do this by simply creating new E-Series REST collectors, and once they are successful, delete the E-Series Santricity API type collectors for the respective arrays to avoid duplicative collection

Hey all, Earlier this week, your DII tenant gained the ability to discover Google Cloud NetApp Volumes. The vision of this collector is that we will discover all instances across your entire Google "organization", regardless of where it is - i.e, we don't want DII users to have to manage lots of collectors simply for having these volumes in different projects and/or sites around the world. We are addressing both capacity and performance use cases - we will have performance data at 5 minute granularity Matt
